Beetle, formerly known as Oakland, received a fall semester sabbatical, and I put my pet sitting business on pause so we can set off into the woods to see what we see, hike what we hike, and slow down to a human scaled life on this spinning tilt-a-wheel. There will be no crushing of miles or racing to the finish. Just one foot in front of the other until we decide to stop (or something else decides for us).

I won’t be doing a detailed chronicle this time because my eyeballs say no to tiny screens MUCH faster than they used to, and, frankly, it was a shit ton of work that I don’t want to repeat. But I will dip in and out in some sort of reflective fashion, and I will be posting photos over on the grams. Feel free to visit anytime or turn off notifications if you’re not prepared for more flowers and mountains and musings from a non-binary woodland creature.
Speaking of, here’s today’s creature feature (he barks and steals socks, but was very instrumental in morale during the homestretch of prep at HQ):

Wowzers! This makes me very happy. And what’s even crazier, just this morning, I kid you not, I was glancing at this very blog to see if you had revived it in advance of your hike. Crazy vibes. And why was I stalking your blog, you ask? Because I am considering reviving my old blog from the AT and adding to it. On short notice, I think I may attempt the Colorado Trail this summer, starting in about six weeks. A friend is currently hiking the Continental Divide Trail, and now you all are getting back into it as well. That’s some serious inspiration for me. Where are you starting your hike and which direction are you heading? Peace, Halfway
